Hi! I’m Sydney and am excited about all things sustainability and climate change resilience. I got my PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Computation and minored in Probability and Statistics. My research focused on hurricane intensification and air-sea interaction. I’m currently a postdoctoral impact fellow with the MIT Climate and Sustainability Consortium where I lead the Value Chain Resilience impact pathway. I’m excited about pursuing a career in climate risk and resilience where I can leverage my expertise in numerical modeling and geospatial data analysis.
I’ve had the privilege of being involved in several mentorship, education, and outreach opportunities. I worked with the MIT Summer Research Program as both a pod leader and a research mentor where I supported talented undergraduate scholars through a summer of research and graduate school prep. I was an instructor for the Women’s Technology Program, got to do some outreach at the Boston Public Library with NOVA, and have mentored several undergraduates in research projects through MIT’s UROP program. I have several years of teaching experience (lecturing, writing homework and test problems, holding office hours and review sessions), and always try to make learning fun by bringing in humor and pop culture.
In my free time, I love dancing west coast swing, watching stand-up comedy, cartooning, and playing board games.
